DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently hiring for a Data Center Senior Operations Lead to support our data centers.

As the Data Center Senior Operations Lead, the role is central to ensuring the operational excellence of our data centers. The Data Center Senior Operations Lead is responsible for guaranteeing the maximum performance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire safety equipment. This includes planned preventive maintenance, daily corrective interventions, and the management of emergency situations. These aspects are the cornerstone of all installation operations within a given data center.

The Data Center Senior Operations Lead is also a key player in managing small- and medium-scale projects, from design to completion, including obtaining and tracking quotes for all associated costs, as well as thoroughly documenting results to optimize future implementations.

A fundamental aspect of the Senior Operations Lead’s role is their essential support function. The Data Center Senior Operations Lead provides crucial support to engineering operations technicians and any third-party vendors by offering expert assistance for the operation and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment on site. This valuable help covers a wide range of equipment, including, but not limited to, backup diesel generators, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDU), air handling units (AHU), cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, variable frequency drives (VFD), and building management systems.

The Data Center Senior Operations Lead organizes and distributes work by supporting engineering operations technicians as well as any third-party vendors.

As a team leader, they coordinate and allocate tasks for the operation and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment on site.

The Data Center Senior Operations Lead plans interventions and assigns responsibilities.

This team operates in a dynamic environment, functioning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The PT’s constant support and expertise are therefore essential to maintaining the high availability and efficiency of our critical infrastructure.

This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • In depth understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
  • Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and or work in elevated locations.
  • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Bilingual in French and English required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or College's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent work experience in Mechanical/Electrical Field
  • Electrical or Mechanical trade (Post Secondary Education)
