The NDT Inspections team is part of the Field Asset Services & Testing Division that provides laboratory and on-site
Inspections and services to generation stations, substations, field equipment and vehicles.
Powertech’s NDT group specializes in the development of innovative inspection techniques and equipment for custom
testing applications in a variety of industries including power utilities, manufacturing, and transportation. The NDT team
consists of experienced engineers, technicians and certified inspectors and we offer a complete set of field and lab NDE
services to our customers. Engineers in this group review non-destructive inspections, provide technical reports, as well as
technical advisory on welding procedures, life assessment of structures and pressure vessels, and safe for use certification
on equipment requiring annual inspections.

Annual salary: 107,010 - 135,330
What you'll do
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead Powertech's Non-destructive inspection efforts and will have technical oversight
in the review of inspection data, certifying annual “safe for use” reports, and advising on welding, structural integrity, and
pressure-retaining equipment. This responsibility encompasses engineering review, decision-making, and regulatory sign-
off. The ideal candidate should demonstrate robust mechanical, materials, NDT knowledge and expertise and P. Eng.
credentials.
- Authorize structural inspection reports and issue “Safe for Use” certificates (cranes, hoists, aerial devices, mobile
platforms), as a registered Professional Engineer.

Work alongside a team of engineers and NDE inspectors in the execution of projects of varying complexities.

Provide expert advice on inspection strategies and welding/structural standards. Participate in design of project
methodology, scoping, costing/budgeting, and preparation of quotations/proposals
- Provide instructions, advice, and technical guidance to NDE inspectors; review work in progress and assess completed
work for accuracy, required results, and compliance with quality assurance, standards and procedures
- Understand customers’ needs and provide technical advise on suitable investigation or inspection techniques. Provide
customer updates, progress reports, invoice requests, and project documentation and closeout.

Maintain alignment with the expanding Powertech quality program and accreditations (ISO 9001, ISO 17025)

Engage in professional development to include staying current in NDT technologies, codes, standards, and representing
Powertech in industry events.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical engineering recognized by universities in Canada. Degrees
in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering will also be considered.
- Minimum of six (6) years recent Engineering experience three (3) years of which relate directly to NDT. Demonstrated
competence in NDT methods: MT, PT, VT, UT (thickness, phased-array), eddy-current, radiography.
- Experience with equipment such as cranes, hoists, aerial devices, or moveable work platforms and utility equipment such
as runners, gates, penstock and pressure vessels is an asset.
- Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certified for Welding Inspector Level II. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the
field of welding procedure qualifications and understanding of related standards are considered as assets.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or other
jurisdictions.

Must hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s license or equivalent
In addition, candidates must demonstrate :
Understanding principles of project management; inclusive of budgets, resources, schedules, and deliverables through
proposal, definition, initiation, planning, execution, reporting, and closure stages.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to build successful relationships, make
presentations to technical and non-technical audiences and liaise with peers in industry
Willing and eligible to work and travel to the USA with no restrictions for site testing
