About the role

Job Description

Reporting to the Recreation Director, the Recreation Aide will assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementing meaningful programs for the residents in conjunction with the Recreation Director
  • Evaluating and documenting the progress of the residents to meet their changing physical, mental and social needs
  • Maintains effective communication with residents, families, volunteers, and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events.
  • Attends in-services for continuing education on the comfort, care, needs and recreational activities for the residents
  • Participates in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interest in mind.
  • Preparing, carrying out and evaluating daily activities.
  • Assisting with meal services as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Working evenings and weekends

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Recreation or Leisure Studies is required.
  • Previous experience working with seniors.
  • Proficiency in Point Click Care
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).
