Are you a seasoned process control engineer ready to lead a team in one of Canada’s largest and most technically advanced mining operations?
INFINITEK is proud to be working in partnership with a major Canadian mining company to identify a Chief Engineer – Process Control for a high-impact leadership role at a flagship open-pit mine in British Columbia.
The Role
As Chief Engineer, you will lead the site-wide strategy for control systems optimization, overseeing automation technologies, advanced process control (APC), and instrumentation across crushing, grinding, flotation, and dewatering operations. You’ll work with a talented team of engineers and technologists to drive operational efficiency, improve throughput, and enhance site performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of process control systems (DCS, PLC, HMI, OPC, historians)
- Oversee plant-wide optimization initiatives using APC, MPC, and real-time data analysis
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and technical services teams
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in process control within a heavy industrial or mining environment
- Proven background in control systems architecture, instrumentation, and automation
- Experience leading technical teams or engineering groups
- Strong understanding of safety-driven operations
Location
This role is based at a mine site in south-central British Columbia. The surrounding area offers an excellent quality of life, with the option to commute from Kamloops or relocate to nearby communities (relocation assistance provided).
