About this Opportunity

As stewards of the campus, Facilities Management (FMGT) fosters and enriches an inviting and functional environment that welcomes and supports all who come here. Facilities Management’s customers include Deans, departments, faculty, staff and students. The department’s branches work together as a team to ensure a high standard of customer service delivery, as well as the provision of capital projects, and effective, efficient and safe performance for the operation and maintenance of campus buildings.

Recognized Shift:

  • Weekday: 5 am – 1 pm Monday to Friday
  • Weeknight: 5 pm - 1 am Monday to Friday

However, from time to time, hours of work may be adjusted to suit operational needs. A willingness and ability to work any recognized shift, including weekends, is expected.

Salary Information:

  • Range between $24.28 to $29.16 per hour, which includes a shift differential of 4.5-8.4% for any hours worked between 5pm - 6am on weekdays, and 15% for any hours worked on the weekend.

Job Summary

Performs janitorial work necessary for the routine cleaning and upkeep of buildings and facilities which involves constant mobility, bending, lifting and reaching. Cleans and maintains all surfaces of furniture, furnishings, floors, walls and other surfaces. Moves furniture and equipment when required. Clears and cleans waste containers and sorts material for proper disposal. Cleans glass surfaces not requiring the use of scaffolds or safety devices. Cleans, disinfects and provides supplies for washrooms. Operates all manner of hand and power tools and performs routine maintenance on assigned equipment. Requests supplies and materials as required and stores for ready use. Reports furniture, fixtures and other facilities in need of repair. Maintains high standard of cleanliness, sanitation and safety and assists in maintaining security of facilities, in assigned areas. Other related duties as required, including occasional operation of light truck in performance of above duties.

Job Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning tools, materials, equipment, methods and techniques used in building cleaning, gained either through on-the-job experience or completion of formal training.
