Position Summary:
De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is seeking Completions Engineers to support the design, development, and certification of interior and cabin systems for our fleet of aircraft. This position is ideally suited for a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience in aircraft completions engineering, particularly with cabin reconfigurations, occupant safety, emergency equipment, and interior compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure that all cabin-related engineering meets regulatory standards, airline operational needs, and De Havilland’s quality and safety expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the design, integration, and certification of interior and cabin systems including:
- Seating layouts and cabin reconfigurations
- Emergency equipment placement and markings
- Interior placarding and signage
- Occupant safety systems (restraints, energy-absorbing seats, etc.)
- Partitions, monuments, and overhead bins
- Lighting and PSU arrangements
- Develop and maintain certification documentation, including compliance checklists, test plans, and substantiation reports for Part 25 requirements.
- Apply knowledge of regulatory compliance, including TCCA, FAA, EASA rules related to cabin interiors, flammability, and emergency egress.
- Create and review 2D drawings and 3D models in support of engineering changes, using tools such as CATIA V5 and PLM systems.
- Collaborate with Configuration Management to ensure accurate tracking of engineering changes, baselines, and aircraft-specific configurations.
- Support production, delivery, and post-delivery activities, including change incorporation, issue resolution, and field support.
- Participate in design and safety reviews, supplier coordination, and customer discussions for interior layout and modification packages.
- Ensure all deliverables are produced in alignment with company and regulatory engineering processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in aircraft completions, interiors, or cabin systems engineering.
- Strong understanding of aircraft interior certification requirements, including occupant safety, emergency equipment, and flammability standards.
- Demonstrated experience with cabin layout planning, LOPA development, and interior equipment integration.
- Proficient in CATIA V5 and familiar with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., ENOVIA, Teamcenter).
- Proven ability to work with configuration management systems, engineering change processes, and aircraft records.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting VIP, commercial, or special mission interior modifications.
- Familiarity with aircraft delivery processes and customer-specific configuration management.
- Understanding of Human Factors and passenger ergonomics in cabin layouts.
- Experience interfacing with certification authorities and DERs for substantiation and approval.
