About the role

WEST GATE PERKS – SHIFT LEAD

SAMRU operates two dynamic food and beverage spaces in Wyckham House:

West Gate Social – a vibrant counter-service lounge and social hub.

West Gate Perks – a cozy new coffee kiosk.

We are seeking motivated and passionate shift leads to support the Counter Service Staff working at West Gate Perks. Compensation begins at $16.50/h plus tips.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support a team of part-time staff, ensuring smooth service and a positive work environment.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, handling customer concerns effectively.
  • Take customer drink and food orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare coffee beverages with care and consistency.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Collaborate with the team for smooth operations.
  • Handle cash and electronic transactions responsibly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Barista experience in a fast-paced café environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with a friendly and approachable attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to cleanliness.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

West Gate Perks’s regular operation hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday to Friday; however, availability within 7:00am-5:00pm is required to accommodate opening and closing duties. This is a seasonal position ending April 30th, 2026.
