JOB SUMMARY
The Production Operator is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of duties and responsibilities as outlined below in accordance with AGS' cultural priorities.
The duties and responsibilities listed below are not meant to be all-encompassing. As business needs change, this list may be adapted.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor the Production Operator is responsible for, but not limited to, the unloading of parts at the end of the lines as well as the safe operation of manual stamping presses.
This position requires availability to work all 3 shift types: Days 7am-3pm, Afternoons 3pm-11pm, and Nights 11pm-7am.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Adheres to Technical System Procedures and Instructions.
Must be capable of repeated standing, bending and lifting.
Must have good communication skills and be capable of learning same as it applies to Statistical Process Control.
Load and unload parts from front and rear of press, placing finished parts in racks or bins.
Must be able to work and operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure machine guards are in place and material handled in a safe manner. Must wear appropriate safety equipment as specified.
Inspection to be visual or as required with gauges, die models, etc. Charting may be required.
Always maintain a clean and organized work area.
Be able to detect faulty operation of equipment being used as well as faulty material.
Be able to adjust air and mechanical lockout devices and determine when dies need sharpening on manual stamping presses.
Complete any paperwork that pertains to the job.
As required, sort and rework defective material, repack and dispose of scrap.
Ensure the standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read and write English.
Grade 12 Diploma preferred.

AGS’s main business is the supply of bumper impact system assemblies and complex high value added metal components. AGS has capabilities in stamping, plating, coatings, welding, engineering and design, and sequencing and assembly. Founded in 1947, with 8 facilities in Canada and the US and with over 154,219m2 of manufacturing floor space.
AGS has a distinctive expertise in chrome plating impact beams. AGS’s impact beams consistently exceed appearance and corrosion resistance standards and have an unsurpassed warranty record. In addition, continued investment in chrome plating R&D has enabled AGS to deliver superior quality, corrosion resistance and material reductions to its customers. AGS also has e-coat and zinc line facilities which provide corrosion protection to metallic parts which are not chrome plated.
AGS also has considerable know-how in stamping complex parts. AGS has more than 135 stamping presses in its facilities, with capacity up to 2500T, including tandem, transfer and progressive presses, many with very large beds to accommodate large parts. A sampling of AGS’s stamped products includes bumper impact system components, cross members, oil pans, control arms, hitches, pillars, beams and frame assemblies.
AGS also has particular skill in welding, including MIG, resistance and drawn arc, and has developed highly automated, flexible welding equipment to help reduce cycle time and improve yields and efficiency.
