About the role
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and mechanical systems. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, and fans.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, report, and repair equipment malfunctions across the facility
- Set up and maintain product handling systems and related equipment
- Perform vacuum system repairs and maintenance
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues down to the component level
- Install machinery and auxiliary systems as needed
- Repair hydraulic and pneumatic components, including pumps and valves
- Maintain and repair tool room equipment
- Disassemble, refurbish, and rebuild mechanical systems and equipment
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of both interior and exterior plant areas
- Execute plant shutdown and start-up procedures in accordance with company protocols
- Operate newly installed equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all new equipment
- Organize and update equipment files and maintenance records
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Millwright, with strong mechanical aptitude
- Rigging experience for safe handling and installation of heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematics
- Fabrication skills, including lathe and milling machine operation, are considered an asset
- Certification or training in working at heights and elevated work platforms is an asset
- Forklift (Tow Motor) certification and operational experience is an asset
- Previous experience in a glass manufacturing environment is an asset
- Min. 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to work either afternoon OR weekend shift.
