Your Day-to-Day:
Under the direction of Director, Finance, you will:
Internal Controls

Be a key member in Finance to assist in leading the planning, scoping and execution of NI-52-109 program
-
Assist in evaluating, updating and maintaining control documentation (including the maintenance of the R&C Matrix, Finance Process SOPs and Flowcharts),
-
Complete walkthroughs of processes and evaluate the effectiveness of the design of key controls related to NI 52-109.

Test of key controls and conclude on operating effectiveness within the prescribed timelines and templates, maintaining support and evidence for work performed.

Establish and maintain regular communication with stakeholders across the various departments
-
Co-ordinate with external vendors, if required
-
Provide regular status updates on the progress of testing and deficiencies. Follow up on recommendations to ensure timely implementation.

Participate in drafting effective policies, procedures, processes and controls necessary to be compliant with the overall NI 52-109 compliance program of the Company

Review and update the sub-certification letters for NI-52-109, as required

Twice a year, attend inventory counts

Promote strong control environment and culture within the finance department

Occasional travel, up to 10%
Financial Reporting
-
Perform various month-end activities including variance analysis and Corporate P&L reviews;
-
Review legal documentation to propose appropriate accounting treatment for non-recurring transactions, e.g. acquisitions, divestitures, debt restructuring, contingent considerations, equity transactions, etc.;
-
Draft technical accounting memos;
-
Prepare financial statements and various parts of the MD&A;
-
Improve the quality of financial reports and models and seek opportunities to streamline analysis and processes;
-
Facilitate, compile and analyze schedules required for the quarterly reviews and annual audit;
-
Develop and foster close working relationships with the BP&A, and other teams within Finance;
-
Assist with external audit requests;
-
Other ad hoc and special projects and duties as needed.
What You Bring To The Team:
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA,CIA); or working towards designation
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of internal controls exposure with financial/accounting experience including financial reporting and financial analysis,
- Prior experience in internal controls over financial reporting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and internal audit practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial accounting and IFRS
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization;
- High level of confidence and results oriented with ability to set realistic and attainable goals and meet those on time;
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills including regular use of functions, pivot tables, etc.; and
- Experience with any accounting software packages and ability to quickly learn new software packages.
