Schedule: Hours of Work – Ability to accommodate schedule flexibility which may be 12 hour modified days, or Days, or shift to meet business needs.
The Kingston Site Laboratories are critical to the Quality Control and Quality Release of product to our customers. Our customers include our internal operating partners in addition to our external customers. Our Quality and Site Visions call on us to urgently improve the consistency of our products, improve our productivity, and transform our capabilities to remain competitive in increasingly competitive markets.
You will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability in our testing and reporting processes, contributing to our shift from Quality Control to Quality Assurance.
Our Team MISA responsibilities are integrated with the lab technicians. Flow to the work is an essential element with the labs and all Lab technologists and technicians support each other within all lab shared workspaces.
MISA responsibilities are unique and require daily testing to fulfill regulatory requirements and maintain stable and reliable operation of the site. Therefore, there is a need and ability to flex schedules in a way that ensures daily coverage within the trained work team, while still managing meaningful time away.
What You Will Do
- Lab Technologists in the MISA role must be able to work independently in a small team environment, operate, maintain, and improve our MISA testing and reporting processes, equipment, and facilities.
- Execution of test methods must be carried out with the utmost diligence and attention to detail by following all Site and Ministry of Environment Standards, SOPs, and reporting accurate results according to schedule in a Compliance environment.
- Gathering and handling samples from different locations around the site, monitoring, maintaining, and controlling lab test equipment, procedures, ensuring quality results, prevent any potential EHS events and drive high levels of integrity in all aspects of the work.
- Duties include equipment troubleshooting, calibrations, validations, record keeping, reporting out-of-limit conditions, cleaning, engaging site work processes, initiating maintenance notification, and responding to urgent needs to ensure the efficient and effective flow of testing requirements.
- Rotate to provide relief to IY and Chem Labs
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Possess a post-secondary degree in a scientific discipline.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills, including proficiency in statistical methods, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Over two years of experience in a laboratory testing environment, demonstrating proficiency in testing protocols and standards.
- Proven problem-solving skills utilizing a disciplined methodology.

- Familiarity with industry standards including ISO 17025 and ASTM
- Leadership experience including supervision or projects
