Its recent financial successes and positive feedback from audiences, have stormed the community with a variety of widely attended programs. Featuring the best in professional performances, Flato Markham Theatre has incorporated itself into the community and educational presentations. With almost 300 live performances each year, the Theatre is busier now more than it has ever been. Live theatre, concerts, comedy shows and family entertainment is an ever-changing array of performing arts are featured. Flato Markham Theatre continues to honour respected artists and their Canadian talent in series of performances, globally acclaimed artists, GTA Premieres and Exclusive Presentations are all offered throughout the season.
Applications are now being accepted for the temporary part-time Usher positions at the Flato Markham Theatre, in the Economic Growth, Culture and Entrepreneurship Department of the Development Services Commission. To apply, please submit your cover letter and resume online by July 27, 2025.
**Hours of Work:**This is a temporary part-time position that would require a minimum availability of up to three shifts per week. We are currently seeking ushers with flexible availability. Please include your expected weekly availability for shifts daytime/evenings.
Working Conditions:Primarily indoors, standing and or sitting for long periods of time, stairs to access upper level seating, some lifting and bending required.

JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Usher is to welcome, provide direction and assist patrons to their seats and to other locations within the Flato Markham Theatre, thereby contributing to a positive and efficient experience for Theatre patrons.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets and assists patrons throughout the front of house
- Provides information about the theatre, performances and venue for patrons
- Guides patrons to seats and assists individuals when needed
- Able to fill different roles: front door, house/orchestra doors, coat check, merchandise etc.
- Various housekeeping duties
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- High School diploma preferred
- Minimum age of 16 years or older at the start of employment
- Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’
- Smart Serve certified is an asset (if 18 years of age or older)
- Able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Good verbal communication skills
- Sensitivity to diverse theatre patrons in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Experience handling cash preferred
- Vulnerable Sector Screening letters will be required
