Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Analyst, Risk Management for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Internal Audit and Risk Management department.

The Senior Analyst, Risk Management will be primarily responsible for the continued maintenance of a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management program. You will provide risk management support to risk owners, risk leaders & their teams throughout the university including but not limited to risk identification, assessment, & the identification and prioritization of risk management strategies. You will also work closely with stakeholder groups to provide & deliver the MacEwan University’s ERM program; and will report and present on risk management topics to stakeholder groups and university leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, conducting, and leading risk assessment activities, including risk research, stakeholder interviews, mitigation strategies documentation and facilitate risk decision-making;
  • Performing and facilitating the identification, assessment and reporting of risks;
  • Supporting all stakeholders including risk owners and their teams in applying risk management processes as set out in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, and presenting on a variety of risk management topics;
  • Preparing and presenting risk reports and presentation materials to audiences of all levels including but not limited to leadership and stakeholder groups, offering insights and recommendations to improve risk management practices;
  • Contributing to the development, maintenance and/or improvement of the university’s ERM program including but not limited to the ERM policy, the ERM framework, supporting tools and templates as well as training initiatives foundational to effectively delivering the ERM program; and
  • Performing ad-hoc support and advisory services to internal stakeholders, as requested and participate in other departmental support duties as assigned.

SKILLS

You will have:

  • Experience facilitating conversations to build understanding, consensus, formulate strategies and recommendations;
  • Extensive experience in risk assessment and possess strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams;
  • A client-focused and service-centered orientation with a demonstrated ability to facilitate change as well as create and sustain productive, collaborative, and consultative relationships;
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., GRC software, risk assessment tools);
  • Proven skills in problem solving and analysis, coaching and mentoring, as well as the ability to inspire and instill confidence in others;
  • The ability to listen, understand and customize communications to a diverse group of audience and stakeholders;
  • A proven ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to a constantly changing business environment; and
  • The ability to work collaboratively and establish credibility with various stakeholder groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field (Business Administration, Accounting or Finance with a relevant risk management designation e.g., Certified Risk Management Professional – CRMP, Associate in Risk Management – ARM, Certified Risk Manager – CRM, etc.)
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in risk management, business operations, project/program management, finance, business analytics or similar, with an emphasis on risk mitigation and internal controls experience.
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of risk management frameworks.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or public sector environment is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
