About the role

BCIT’s Office Administration with Technology (OAT) Program is seeking a temporary Flexible Learning Faculty member to teach a course in Microsoft Word. This role involves delivering engaging instruction, preparing course materials, assessing student progress, and contributing to a collaborative teaching environment.

Course hours: ongoing sessional work, 54 hours per intake/term, 2 intakes/terms per year.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES**:**

  • Develop and deliver course content, including lectures, demonstrations, and assessments

  • Prepare course outlines, assignments, and teaching materials

  • Facilitate synchronous in-person and online classes

  • Encourage student engagement and participation

  • Monitor and support student progress throughout the course

  • Evaluate and grade assignments; submit final grades to administration

  • Collaborate with the OAT Program team to ensure instructional quality and consistency

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS**:**

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in office administration

  • Experience in adult education, training, or post-secondary instruction

  • Proficiency in delivering both in-person and online instruction

  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word

  • Microsoft Office Specialist Certification: Word – Expert (required)

Salary Range

Salary Range: $81.30 to $121.96 per contact hour, inclusive of vacation and holiday pay.

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
