The Role
As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you’ll be responsible for hunting new business opportunities, qualifying leads, and managing the entire sales cycle from start to finish. This is a true hunting role where you’ll be the one to uncover, prospect, and close deals with new clients. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, driven by results, and loves the thrill of the chase—finding new leads, engaging with prospects, and converting them into long-term clients.
You’ll report directly to the CEO and have the potential to grow into a leadership role as the sales team scales. Blend is looking for someone who has a proven track record of success in sales and is ready to take on the challenge of driving new business for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hunt for new business : Identify and target new prospects, actively seek out new sales opportunities, and develop a robust pipeline of leads.
- Qualify leads : Engage with prospects, understand their pain points, and qualify opportunities based on their needs and our offerings.
- Close deals : Own the full sales cycle, from lead generation to closing, including demos, proposals, and contract negotiations.
- Sales strategy : Work closely with the CEO to define sales strategies, including identifying target markets, refining outreach techniques, and executing plans to increase business growth.
- Utilize sales tools : Leverage our tech stack, including Outreach, Salesforce, Chorus, and SalesOS, to track progress, manage the pipeline, and optimize sales performance.
- Customer relationship management : Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospects and clients, ensuring they have a positive experience with Blend.
- Reporting and feedback : Provide regular updates to the CEO on sales activities, progress against targets, and insights on market trends and competitor activity.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven track record of success : Ideally, you have experience in sales, with a demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales targets, particularly in a hunting role.
- Experience in recruitment (preferred, not required) : Previous experience in the recruitment or HR services space is a bonus, but not a necessity.
- Self-motivated and driven : You thrive in an environment where self-direction, initiative, and drive are key to success.
- Excellent communication skills : You excel at engaging prospects through cold outreach, cold calls, and email campaigns, and can communicate effectively at all levels.
- Tech-savvy : Familiarity with sales tools such as Outreach, Salesforce, Chorus, and SalesOS (or similar) is a strong plus.
- Highly organized : You can juggle multiple leads, set priorities, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Team player : While this is a hunting role, you will work closely with the CEO and eventually with other team members, so being a collaborative and adaptive player is essential.
- Location requirements : Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and located within a commutable distance of downtown Toronto.
- Hybrid work : This is a hybrid role, and you must be able to work in the office at least twice per week.
