Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-driven Interim Senior Project Controls Analyst to join our Pipeline Projects team within the Transportation Business Unit (TBU). This role plays a vital part in ensuring financial accuracy, reliable cost forecasting, and full-cycle project execution across a diverse portfolio that includes integrity programs, operations projects, and various engineering initiatives.

The Interim Senior Project Controls Analyst will be based in the Calgary downtown corporate office, and will report to the Supervisor, Project Controls.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Provide full-cycle project controls management across planning, execution, and closeout, ensuring integration of scope, schedule, cost, and change tracking
  • Track incurred costs and deliver accurate, well-supported accruals throughout all phases of the project
  • Own full-circle AFE management, including memo reviews, supplemental funding coordination, and final closeouts upon project completion
  • Perform variance analysis against budget and forecast to enable proactive financial oversight
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Program Managers, and the accounting group to ensure consistent financial reporting
  • Monitor schedules and budgets, apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques, and prepare reports for key stakeholders
  • Utilize EcoSys and SAP to deliver reliable forecasting, cost tracking, and performance insights
  • Manage scope changes effectively: prepare and track change orders, analyze impacts, and ensure updates are reflected in forecasts and reporting
  • Support small-scale annual integrity programs, operations projects, and various engineering initiatives, delivering scalable and dependable project controls in a multi-project environment

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project controls or cost management—ideally within operations or construction environments, or equivalent experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in similar roles
  • Proven proficiency with EcoSys and SAP systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial documentation
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting tools, forecasting methods, and performance analysis including EVM
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
  • Analytical thinking with a solutions-oriented approach to complex challenges

Hours

Full time, Monday-Friday, 12 month term

As this position is identified as security sensitive the employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon the completion of pre-employment background check with satisfactory results.
