Our Business Development and Marketing (BDM) department is integrated across all offices and is responsible for business development, marketing, client experience and public relations.

Duties + Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, the successful candidate will engage in a variety of duties to support the business development activities of the firm. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of business plans for practice and industry groups, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic plan.
  • Developing and implementing innovative business development strategies for lawyers, aligned with the firm's objectives and market opportunities.
  • Providing coaching and guidance to lawyers to enhance their business development skills.
  • Supporting lawyers in multiple practice areas with creative, compliant, client centric RFx.
  • Establishing and managing a Key Account Management program to maintain and expand existing client relationships.
  • Developing a system for acquiring representative experiences for the firm’s experience management system.
  • Facilitating business development by collecting and disseminating business, industry, and competitor intelligence.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with potential clients, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Understanding client needs and expectations to help identify new business opportunities.

Qualifications + Skills

The ideal candidate for this role is a confident and highly detail-oriented individual with the ability to think quickly and creatively. You should be well-organized, efficient, and capable of multitasking with grace and professionalism. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a proven background in business development or sales support, ideally within a professional services environment.

You should be adept at navigating ambiguous situations, influencing others, and driving initiatives to meet crucial deadlines and deliver results. As a self-motivated professional, the ability to work independently, while also being an active and positive contributor to the team, is key.

To succeed in this role, you must:

  • Have at least five years experience in business development or sales support, with a proven track record of escalating responsibilities and achievements.
  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in commerce or a related field.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to think strategically and execute day-to-day tasks with excellence.
  • Serve as a strong and prominent advocate for business development, marketing, and the firm's overall mission.
  • Be driven to make a significant impact and become a key player in the organization.
  • Showcase a history of resilience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to achieving goals.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work arrangement, minimum 3 days per week in office (Calgary or Edmonton).
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
