Hornby Island Medical Clinic is an Island Health Owned and Operated Clinic featuring:

  • 1 of 2 PT Providers
  • 2 clerks and 1 RNc on team
  • Part of the Primary Care Network, enhancing team based care at this clinic site – Mental Health, Social Work, Dietician, Pharmacy support on-site
  • 2 weeks monthly – current rotation 1 week on/1 week off
  • 1 week virtual, 1 week on-site/monthly can be accommodated
  • 1 in 3 call schedule - optional, call only falls on ‘week on’ compensated in addition to service contract
  • .5 FTE minimum, opportunity up to .7 FTE

Benefits

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

  • Recruitment Incentive - up to $20,000 (amount prorated based on FTE)
  • Fee Premium - 15.86%
  • Annual Flat Fee - $24,570.72
  • Rural CME starting at $1,320 for up to 2 years, $3,520/annum in year 3&4 in community, increasing to a maximum of $5720/annum after 4 years.

Community Information

Hornby Island, home to 1000 permanent residents, is located off the east coast of Vancouver Island and is accessible via the BC Ferry system.

With a moderate west coast climate, Hornby Island is a popular vacation destination with extensive sand beaches, bicycle trails, festivals, musicians, artists and artisans.

A wide range of water sport activities are also available on Hornby Island, from fishing, kayaking and boating to swimming and scuba diving. If you prefer a different pace, enjoy watching the abundant birds (including bald eagles) sea lions and other marine mammals that make Hornby Island their home.

Hornby Island has elementary schooling (K-6) and pre-school and some daycare services are available in the community. Junior and senior students travel by bus and ferry to schools in the Courtenay area.

The island offers a variety of retail outlets, restaurants, cafes and a credit union, as well as a regional library service.
