Family Practitioner - Shoreline Medical, Sidney Clinic (Saanich Peninsula PCN 100-1961)

An exciting opportunity to join our expanding primary care network in Sidney. The practitioner will be the most responsible primary care provider for a minimum patient panel as described in the New-to-Practice (NTP) Contract. In addition to general care, we have opportunities in maternity and palliative.

We offer a team-based approach to primary care where we work in collaboration with other network doctors to cover clinic hours and participate in community hospital care at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. This team is part of a larger Saanich Peninsula Primary Care Network with additional resources – RN, Pharmacist, MH Clinicians, and Social Workers.

After hours care for patients attached to the practitioner is inherent in the services as well as after hours care for other patients of the clinic. On-call for the clinic is on a rotation and is for one week at a time. During that week you would be responsible for the after hours call line for Shoreline Medical, Sidney call line. Currently Shoreline aligns its on-call rotation with the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Doctor of the Day rotation. This occurs approximately every one in eight week, and is revolving.

Overhead negotiated with clinic; NTP contract includes $75,000 overhead to be paid to physician to pay to clinic, physician to pay any remainder.

Patient home, Doctor of the Day, Fast Track Program and Long Term Care visits are outside of this contract.

Management of the clinic is provided by the Shoreline Medical Society, a non-profit organization that partners with interdisciplinary health care providers and the community to deliver: patient-centred care, hospital/community continuity of care, education and a healthy life-work balance for our team.

Community Information

The town of Sidney, population 11,600, located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, is approximately 20 kilometers north of British Columbia's capital, Victoria. Several elementary, middle and secondary schools, including french immersion, are available in the area.

With its mild climate, the community is a well-known tourist destination offering pursuits ranging from exploring the Ocean Discovery Centre and a historical museum, to water-related activities such as sailing, kayaking, diving, fishing and whale watching. For those preferring to stay on land, Sidney also offers a pedestrian friendly downtown that includes coffee shops, bookstores, restaurants serving local food, and many special town events, like the Sidney Market and the Sidney Fine Arts Show.

Sidney is home to the Swartz Bay BC Ferry Terminal and the Sidney / US (Anacortes, WA) Ferry Terminal, and is in proximity to the Victoria International Airport.
