Student Support Secialist, Working Holiday (Korean Speaking)

Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, International Experience Canada Program, Robertson College is seeking a reliable and proactive WH Student Support Specialist (Korean-Speaking) to provide comprehensive settlement and communication support to Korean students enrolled in the Working Holiday JumpStart 403 program. This role is ideal for a bilingual professional who is detail-oriented, culturally aware, and passionate about supporting international students in their transition to life and work in Canada.
The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for Korean students, offering support in their native language to ensure clear communication and a smoother settlement experience. The role also includes regular reporting to the program manager and preparing updates for our Korean university partners on student programs and overall program performance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in student onboarding, one-on-one support, and industry engagement throughout the Working Holiday program.

- Settlement Services & Onboarding Support

- Assist students with finding and securing housing.
- Facilitate completion of homestay or rental agreements between students and hosts.
- Guide students through essential services, including, but not limited to:

- Service Canada: SIN number issuance
- Banking: Opening Canadian bank accounts
- Registry: Obtaining an Alberta driver’s license or provincial ID
- Alberta Health Care: Application support
- Mobile plans: Phone activation
- Transit: Calgary Transit pass setup
- Communicate with Korean students in their native language to ensure clarity in settlement processes and to help them feel supported.
- Individual Check-ins & Ongoing Support

- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with Korean students after the program begins.
- Monitor student settlement progress and offer timely support based on individual needs.
- Maintain and update student progress reports.
- Provide updates to partner universities when required.
- Weekly Employer Visits

- Participate in employer visit activities every Friday.
- Research and prepare appropriate transportation options in advance.
- Accompany students during employer visits and provide on-site support.
- Assist the Workforce Team and Student Engagement and Administrative Specialist in coordinating logistics and facilitating smooth engagement between hosts and students.
- Provide Korean interpretation as needed during employer visits to ensure students fully understand job details, expectations, and workplace culture.

- Submit weekly reports to the Manager, International Experience Canada.
- Enact responsibilities proactively and communicate any student concerns or feedback to the Manager.
- Track and submit mileage and fuel expenses weekly for reimbursement.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in both Korean and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with accountability.
- Familiarity with basic settlement services and student support is an asset.
- Previous experience in student advising, customer service, or community support is preferred and will be a strong asset for success in this role.
- Deep cultural sensitivity and a demonstrated empathetic approach to supporting Korean students as they navigate the challenges and adjustments of living and studying in a new country.
- Proof of Canadian Work Authorization, and a current and satisfactory criminal record check will be required upon Offer of Employment.
