Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position Reports To: Senior Payroll and Benefit Specialist

Position Overview

As part of the Finance Team, the Payroll and Accounting Assistant will assist the Senior Payroll and Benefit Specialist in all administrative and payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities

• File payroll documentation

• Complete time audits

• Input attendance (OT, vacation, sick etc)

• Complete payroll packages each pay period

• Assist the Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist run Payroll actions

• Be the back-up to all Payroll functions

• Prepare source documents and conduct walkthroughs to fulfill internal and external audits adhering to controls requirements.

• Respond to employee inquiries

• Respond to external parties (Service Canada, provincial H&S ministries, provincial WCB, etc.) requests for information as well government program requests, i.e. EHT in Ontario etc.

• Demonstrate a personal commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental responsibilities

• Support Senior Payroll and Benefit Specialist in maintenance of the site DFA.

• Prepare payroll related month end accounting entries.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Professional Certification or working towards is an asset
• Preferably some working knowledge and experience of payroll
• Detail oriented and deadline-driven
• Maintain confidentiality of information
• An analytical approach to work and a creative mindset to implement desire and passion to deliver outstanding service.
• Detailed oriented with strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to listen attentively, adhere to tight deadline and adhere to company standard of ethics
• Advanced in Excel
• Exposure to business improvement methodologies an asset.
• Prove ability to work under pressure with minimal guidance and meet tight deadlines
