Context:
The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres farther into Scarborough.
It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.
The MCS team is partnering with partnering with Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension project.
Missions/Main Duties:
Reporting to the Line Wide Director, the Systems Manager will lead significant parts of the Line Wide Systems works. The Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on the Scarborough Subway Extensions Project. This role ensures that all MEP systems are integrated seamlessly into the overall project, comply with safety requirements, and are delivered on time and within budget.
This position will manage a team of Metrolinx staff, consultants and contractors to deliver the Testing and Commissioning workstream.
What will I be doing?

Manage the full lifecycle of MEP systems from design and, together with the testing and commissioning team, through commissioning and handover.

Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure MEP systems align with project goals.

Work closely with MEP engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.

Review and approve MEP designs, drawings, and specifications.

Ensue compliance with safety standards

Conduct site inspections to monitor installation quality and adherence to specifications

Resolve technical issues and construction challenges

Ensure timely delivery of MEP systems and manage risk mitigation strategies

Significantly contribute to successful and timely handover

Prepare documentation, manuals, and training

Report progress to senior management and stakeholders.

Manage stakeholders such as TTC, City of Toronto and/or Metrolinx AM&M (Asset Management and Maintenance)
Profile/Skills:
- Experience in delivering Systems large scale rapid transit projects including mechanical, electrical and plumbing experience
- Project management experience on large scale rapid transit projects
- Experience working with a large team of technical professionals and large-scale contractors
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Systems works related to rapid transit projects.
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities and third‐party utility providers
