LINB62H3 - Structure of American Sign Language - Fall 2025

Course description: An introduction to the structure of American Sign Language (ASL): Comparison to spoken languages and other signed languages, together with practice in using ASL for basic communication.

Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be:

Sessional Lecturer I: $9,820.70
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $10,510.03
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,760.27
Sessional Lecturer III: $11,030.35

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience teaching LINB62H3 or equivalent. Familiarity with American Sign Language. Strong academic record and professional promise. Teaching experience is an asset.

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
