Position Summary Maintenance Engineer, Building Services/Plant Operation Your goal in this position is to operate, maintain, adjust and perform major repairs to power plant, chiller plant, mechanical room equipment and induction units. You have advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude. You also have good written, verbal and interpersonal skills. You have the ability to complete tasks assigned and to work independently. You will take on the shared responsibility for ensuring that health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families. The position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.
On a practical level, you will
- Operate Power Plant equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and tests on power plant, chiller plant, mechanical room equipment and induction units
- Diagnose problems and perform major adjustments and repairs to power plant, chiller plant, mechanical room equipment and induction units
- Investigate and respond to staff requests for temperature adjustments and emergency calls during off-hours, weekends and holidays
- Respond to all Fire Alarms and reset the Fire Alarm System and Elevators
- Work safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety standards
Qualifications
- Fourth Class Operating Engineer Certificate from the Province of Ontario preferred
- Prefer 3 years’ experience in oil and gas-fired coil tube boilers, building automation system, Centrifugal chillers, emergency diesel generators, HVAC and fire alarm system.
