What can you expect from this position?
Reporting to the Senior Director, Maintenance, the Associate Director, Fleet Management leads the Fleet Maintenance Department. This role is accountable for the effective and efficient maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of all fleet programs, alongside leading acquisition, assignment, and utilization initiatives for the GTAA's fleet.
This vital leadership role involves providing strategic planning and direction to ensure fleet readiness, optimizing vehicle and staff deployment to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and ensuring new procurements align with operational technical requirements.
You will foster cross-functional collaboration with ADTS departments, including Project Management Services, Engineering, Capital Delivery, and the LIFT Program, to resolve fleet-related technical concerns and ensure seamless alignment. The role oversees financial and contractual excellence by managing the operating budget, planning OPEX and CAPEX, leading long-term asset planning, developing and managing contracts, negotiating with suppliers, and crafting compelling business cases for executive review.
Championing sustainability and growth, you will forecast future system and equipment requirements to enable airport growth, explore ESG options for zero emissions to meet GHG reduction targets, and approve expenditures. You are expected to lead and develop high-performing teams, holding managers accountable to deliver within budget and achieve strategic goals.
Furthermore, you will effectively navigate labour relations, including negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations, and foster strong relationships with union leadership and stakeholders. As a key member of the Airport Development & Technical Services' Management Team, you will contribute to the department's short- and medium-term business strategy, influence forward-thinking management decisions, and support overall success. This includes cultivating an empowering environment by setting clear goals, motivating teams, coaching individuals to their full potential, and inspiring excellence through performance management and succession planning.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to oversee the comprehensive maintenance and strategic planning of our diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic foresight, and exceptional people management skills, thriving in a complex, fast-paced environment. This role demands a results-oriented professional committed to driving operational excellence, fostering collaborative relationships across all organizational levels, and ensuring both financial stewardship and sustainable innovation.
This is the role for you, if you have:

An undergraduate degree in engineering, science, or business, or fleet trade qualification or a combination of related post-secondary education and extensive experience.

A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation would be an asset.

A minimum of 7 years of experience leading teams in a related field, with 5+ years specifically in heavy equipment and fleet management/maintenance.

Experience leading teams in a unionized, fast-paced, and highly collaborative work environment.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the MS Office suite.

Demonstrated ability to operate and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including preparing and delivering presentations to executive leadership.

The ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
