The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic plans to address any identified risks as well as potential emerging risks, measure a reduction in the risk and report improvements. This may include creating & training workflows, processes, development of Operational guides in Claims Central.

What you’ll do:
- Lead effectively and positively through implementation of change.
- Create an environment dedicated to exceptional customer outcomes and champion the improvement to service.
- Develop and build reports Report building and knowledge of how to use data.
- Use data to understand how our people and the business unit are performing and initiate improvement activity through to execution.
- Make decisions using data; observe the environment to identify performance blockers/barriers.
- Use the data, insight, and expertise of the frontline to determine how we improve our overall performance, results, and the customer’s journey.
- Clearly articulate and effectively communicate the link between our purpose, our strategy, our commitment, and our culture
- Expert understanding of the claims experience as it relates to Casualty claims.
- Expert Casualty claims technical experience and knowledge, including but not limited to:
- Interpret insurance contracts, resolve policy coverages, establish and adjust reserves in accordance with corporate guidelines
- To appropriately handle Casualty claims according to individual authority, knowledge and expertise.
- Acquire investigative reports, expert examination and reports where appropriate, statements from insured's/witnesses and other specialists as required
- Educate customers and providers of any new auto reform changes
- Ensure all aspects of the claim process are handled optimally and within company guidelines
- Assist in resolving claims issues with respect to interpretations, as they relate to the legislation and settlement negotiations
- Ensure service levels and quality standards are met by approved specialists
- Create and deliver training and actively participate in file clinic sessions
- Understand financial elements of our claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance.
- Understand and apply risk management controls proportionately.
- Oversight of Risk focused data, including Qlik Sense
What you’ll bring:
- CIP or FCIP Industry designation (working towards)
- University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent
- 15+ years insurance claims experience, with majority focus in Casualty, Accident Benefits, and Commercial General Liability in all western provinces.
- Proven technical expertise handling Western Casualty claims.
- Extensive experience in coverage analysis as it relates to Casualty, Accident Benefits and Commercial General Liability.
- Prior leadership experience is an asset.
- Expert knowledge of Western Tort legislation and interpretation
- Large Loss experience preferred
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to execute on strategic initiatives
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
