About CEE:
CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals is committed to cultivating a pool of young Black professionals who will positively impact the Canadian economy. Our mandate is workforce development for Black youth aged 18-29 years old who are furthest from the labour market. Through strategically curated programming, CEE is addressing widening labour gaps and creating viable pathways to employment for Black youth. Our programs are holistic, person-centered, and culturally relevant to offer dedicated social supports, such as access to psychotherapy and hardship aid, alongside relevant and engaging workforce development to advance their lives, education, career options and job readiness.

Our programming is purposeful in its aim to reduce the multiple barriers to employment faced by Black youth and to empower our members toward the realization of progressive, upwardly mobile, and longstanding achievement. The experience at CEE ignites the innate brilliance of Black youth and helps them reimagine their identities and reframe the narratives of their futures to break cycles of trauma, poverty, and violence. Job Description:
The Communications and Development Coordinator plays a vital role in amplifying CEE’s mission, engaging diverse audiences, and supporting fundraising and donor engagement. This position combines strategic communications, digital content creation, brand management, donor stewardship, and grant support to elevate CEE’s visibility and impact.

We’re seeking a skilled storyteller and digital communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Communications & Marketing

  • Lead and implement a multi-platform communications strategy across web, social media, email, and print.
  • Manage and create content for the organization’s website, newsletters, blog, and social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X/Twitter).
  • Develop compelling storytelling content, including impact stories, video, photography, and testimonials.
  • Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all digital and print materials.
  • Track and analyze communications metrics to inform content strategy and improve engagement.
  • Create digital and print design materials using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Maintain audio-visual equipment and oversee content capture during events.
  • Raise public awareness and promote organizational achievements through earned media and outreach.
  • Support the development of a cross-department communication plan and the implementation of communication strategies and tools to elevate organizational productivity and innovation.

Fund Development & Donor Engagement

  • Support fundraising campaigns (e.g., Annual Appeals, Giving Tuesday, Monthly Giving) by creating communications materials and campaign messaging.
  • Assist with donor stewardship including thank-you letters, donor updates, donor spotlights, and CRM (Salesforce) record maintenance.
  • Support corporate partnerships, sponsorship recognition, and donor marketing materials.
  • Contribute to the preparation of fundraising decks, proposals, and impact reports.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional campaign strategies and execution.

Grant Writing & Resource Development

  • Research and identify grant opportunities and assist in the preparation of grant applications, proposals, and LOIs (Letters of Intent).
  • Track submissions, deadlines, and grant deliverables, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.
  • Maintain organized records of all funding activities and support internal reporting.

Events & Campaigns

  • Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising and community engagement events.
  • Capture stories and media during events for future communications and marketing purposes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy Support

  • Support the preparation of briefing notes and advocacy materials for public and government relations.
  • Attend relevant events, webinars, and learning opportunities to stay informed on sector best practices and trends.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong editing and proofreading capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-platform communications and storytelling strategies.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, donor engagement, and fundraising communications.
  • Strong design and video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Suite, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Proficient in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Understanding of ethical principles and confidentiality in nonprofit settings.
  • Empathy, integrity, adaptability, and a strong growth mindset.
  • Photography, video production, or social media strategy experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with or supporting Black youth is strongly preferred.
  • Affiliation with a professional fundraising association is an asset

Salary Range: $47,500-55,000

Reports to: Manager of Development & Grants

Position: Full-Time, 1 year Contract (Occasional evenings and weekends)
