About the role

The Department of Computer Science, within the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a Fall 2025 and/or Winter 2026 term Sessional Instructor.

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for the instruction and associated duties for Part A of this multi-term, 6-unit course in the Fall 2025 term and/or the instruction and associated duties for Part B in the Winter 2026 term. Responsibilities may also include the supervision and direction of teaching assistants.

CPSC 550A/B: Systems Administration

Topics and practices in systems administration and management. Required and optional administration duties and responsibilities. Moral and ethical conundrums, and legal responsibilities, in systems operation. Configuration and installation of operating systems and network and systems services.

Term Dates: Fall 2025:  (Part A) August 25, 2025, to December 24, 2025

Winter 2026: (Part B) January 5, 2026, to April 30, 2026

Tentative Teaching Schedule:

  • CPSC 550A Lectures are Mo 6:00PM-7:50PM; Labs are We 6:00PM-8:50PM
  • CPSC 550B Lectures are Mo 6:00PM-7:50PM; Labs are We 6:00PM-8:50PM

Delivery Mode(s): All course components will be delivered in person.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a minimum of an MSc in Computer Science or a closely related discipline with a PhD preferred. Preference will be given to graduate students and postdocs in our program looking to obtain teaching experience, followed by applicants with a postgraduate degree.

As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of Computer Science will adhere to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.
