As the Water Services Software Quality Assurance Analyst (SQAA), you will be responsible for developing and implementing test strategies, creating and maintaining detailed test plans and cases including automation, and overseeing test execution across various platforms and environments prior to the release. You will be involved in all stages of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, integration, testing, implementation, and maintenance. You will also ensure that quality assurance processes are applied at each SDLC stage, identify areas for potential improvement, and make recommendations aimed at enhancing product quality. You will coordinate Quality Control (QC) and testing activities to verify requirement fulfillment before production release. Additionally, you will provide business systems support to Water Services staff members on system and data-related issues. Primary duties include:

  • Create, maintain, and enhance test plans, test cases, test methodologies that ensure verification of the end-to-end system.
  • Collaborate with analysts, software developers and business users to provide feedback on requirements and validate design with a QA perspective.
  • Perform all aspects of verification including functional, integration, regression, and system testing.
  • Coordinate end to end user acceptance testing with subject matter experts from impacted teams.
  • Isolate defects, recreate chain of events that led to the defect, work with business and technical items to ensure a suitable resolution or workaround is developed and verified.
  • Provide end user support and assist internal staff in troubleshooting and resolving the system issues related to process or data errors.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures that improve the quality of system to shorten the testing cycle and reduce support costs through analysis, experience, and use of metrics.
  • Maintain the process repository and related artifacts used across Water Services.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2-year diploma in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in quality assurance, software testing or application support; OR
  • A degree in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or a related field and at least 1 year of related experience in quality assurance, software testing or application support.
  • Working knowledge and experience on IBM Maximo Asset Management and/or UKG(Kronos) products, other enterprise level systems or tools would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), ARIS (Architecture of Integrated Information Systems) or Microsoft Visio, Azure DevOps or Github, ALM or Jira or similar tools would be considered an asset.
  • You have a very strong customer service focus, the ability to develop trusted relationships, and the ability to work operationally along with excellent interpersonal, problem solving, communication skills are essential.

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $40.18 - 53.76 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
