Job Title: Methods Engineer (Manufacturing Project Engineer)
Location: Fort Erie, Ontario
About the Role:
The successful candidate will support ongoing manufacturing operations, development, and launch of new programs, as well as changes and maintenance of existing programs. They will be responsible for supporting production activities across multiple aircraft platforms, addressing non-conformance issues, and acting as a key liaison between the design office and the shop floor.
This position requires strong problem-solving skills, cross-functional collaboration, and expertise in aeronautical manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the production of calling and ferring components for eight aircraft platforms.
- Curing of composite parts (25%), manual trim of composite parts (25%) and preparing and painting of composite parts (50%).
- Support and optimize manufacturing processes including pre-prep layout, material cutting, layup, autoclave curing, preassembly, painting, and final assembly.
- Address non-conformance (NC) issues by conducting repairs, submitting cases to international engineering teams, receiving feedback, and executing corrective actions.
- Act as a resident engineer to resolve fit issues by analyzing data and drawings, often using the "5 Whys" method to determine root causes.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding part status and production timelines.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, quality assurance, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure smooth production workflows.
- Serve as a key link between the design office and the shop floor, ensuring accurate implementation of engineering changes.
- Update and manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) in SAP and develop work instructions using Google Slides or PowerPoint.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of SAP for manufacturing operations.
- 3-5 years of experience in the aeronautics sector.
- Proficiency in SAP for BOM management and production tracking.
- Ability to create clear and detailed work instructions using Google Slides or PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Catia V5 (R21+).
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S methodologies.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive projects and coordinate across teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Seniority Level:
- 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role.
