Position Overview
The Senior Automation Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced data solutions that support the Opus’s inbound data processes and operational efficiencies. Focusing on ETL processes for broker and client data, this individual ensures seamless data integration, transformation, and delivery to meet critical business requirements. The role demands both strong technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of business dynamics.
As a key contributor, the Senior Automation Developer builds, maintains, and optimizes data pipelines, investigates and resolves data discrepancies, and enhances automation to streamline workflows. Collaboration is essential, as this position partners with team members and stakeholders to guarantee data integrity, refine operational processes, and drive continuous improvement. Additionally, the developer leads or supports initiatives aimed at strengthening process controls, eliminating inefficiencies, and optimizing workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Data Integration & Automation
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using technologies such as SSIS and proprietary solutions.
- Implement delta processes, audit flows, and monitoring solutions to ensure high-quality data and adherence to governance standards.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to integrate and automate data from multiple sources.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Develop and manage dashboards and visualizations (Power BI or similar tools) for both departmental and company-wide reporting.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure alignment on data requirements, standardization practices, and reporting needs.
- Translate complex data sets into clear, concise insights that drive informed decision-making.
Project Management & Leadership
- Plan and execute special projects focused on process efficiency, from scope definition through to implementation and post-project review.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Finance, etc.) to gather requirements, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Establish and implement best practices for project tracking, change management, and quality assurance.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and analyze existing processes to recommend and implement process improvements or automation.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members and stakeholders on new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies to drive innovation within the organization.
Documentation & Governance
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data workflows, business processes, and technical configurations to ensure clarity and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and governance frameworks while handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Maintain audit trails for tracking user inputs and data changes.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and database management (SQL Server, MySQL).
Technical Proficiency
- Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, SAP BO, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps) and version control systems (Git, TFS, Azure DevOps).
Analytical & Interpersonal Abilities
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a history of driving process improvements and innovation.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement.
Additional Considerations
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
- A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies and frameworks.
