Community Disability Services Practitioner
Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is seeking a community disability services practitioner to join our team! This position will provide support in our DaCapo Disability Services department. In this role, you will support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies to assist individuals with disabilities to pursue and achieve their goals by accessing meaningful community-based activities.

Community disability services practitioners:
-
develop, plan and deliver educational opportunities related to employment skills, social skills, life skills, communication, relationships, and workplace safety,
-
develop sessions using a variety of presentation styles and delivery techniques,
-
provide and support individuals to participate in meaningful community-based activities,
-
modify sessions to meet challenges of individuals receiving supports,
-
provide information on existing community resources and facilitate appropriate connections,
-
provide direction to job coaches regarding the delivery of on-the-job supports, in collaboration with employment team members (Supervisor, Job Developer, Job Coach),
-
work in combination with support team to develop assessment and support strategies,
-
support individuals to overcome personal, social and/or behavioral challenges affecting their employment,
-
teach and model good communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and professionalism,
-
complete required documentation for multiple clients, and
-
complete administrative duties as required.
Required skills and qualifications:
-
a related diploma/degree, and a minimum of one year experience in the field,
-
experience providing support to individuals with barriers to employment,
-
excellent verbal and written communication skills,
-
ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to changes,
-
proficient use of technology and software used in a workplace, and
-
a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance ($2,000,000 liability insurance)
All new employees of LFS must provide a police information check and vulnerable sector check dated not less than 90 days prior to the date of hire.
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
