Who you are
- Understanding and work experience developing with either GoLang, Python, Rust, or any object oriented programming language
- Understanding and working knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines , Release Engineering practices
- Understanding and working experience developing API technologies like GraphQL and REST
- Work-related experience with large-scale, high-traffic platforms
- Work-related experience with designing scalable and robust services in the real world
- Clear communication skills and the ability to represent your contributions and ideas with clarity while remaining open and giving space to the contributions and ideas of others
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
- Developing and maturing sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
- Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives
- Experience supporting live sites and on call
- Experience leveraging observability tooling like Grafana Cloud, Prometheus etc
- Working knowledge of AlloyDB, Cassandra, MySQL, Redis
- Working knowledge of React, Node.js
- Working knowledge of Docker, Chef, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Vault

What the job involves
- Pantheon is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Platform Routing team
- We’re expanding an impressive and growing platform that powers hundreds of thousands of websites, millions of containerized resources, billions of monthly page views, and development tools that professional website developers use
- On the Platform Routing team, you’ll be building and maintaining the next generation of API and routing software that powers the core of our platform
- With talented and driven engineers from around the world breaking ground on mission-critical projects, you’ll join a team that sets the standard for quality and excellence for Pantheon’s engineering group
- Engineers on the Platform Routing team support a variety of technologies and tools ranging from Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to DNS management and GraphQL supergraphs that power the future of Pantheon’s API

- Additionally, the Pantheon engineering teams are built around a focus on collaboration, character, autonomy, and a no-blame culture
- We're enthusiastic participants in several open-source communities and have real relationships with many of our most active customers
- Building next-generation infrastructure and applications to support the Patheon platform’s API and routing software
- Maintaining critical routing infrastructure to support millions of requests per day (DNS services, Web Application Firewall (WAF), platform traffic management)
- Working on advanced globally scaled implementations of WordPress and Drupal CMS systems using the latest in Google Cloud platform offerings
- Using cloud-based systems to host our services (Kubernetes, Cloud Run, etc.)
- Close collaboration with the wider engineering team to both deliver platform improvements and provide subject-matter-expertise for other technical initiatives
- Owning your team’s production systems, measure and track their health with SLO’s, and assist our support team to resolve production issues
- Continuous improvements to our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices for coding, testing, deploying and communication
- Supporting Pantheon as a member of the on-call engineer rotation, contributing to the infrastructure’s stability, reliability, and performance that drives Pantheon's success
- Supporting and meeting with Pantheon customers, as needed, to ensure their success as well as ours
