About the role

Position: Sexual Assault Support Worker

Location: Parksville, BC

Hours: 6 hours/week (part-time, temporary until March 31, 2026)

Salary: $29.17/hour

Start Date: July 7, 2025

We are looking for a Sexual Assault Support Worker to join our Mental Health and Social Services team! Ideally, this individual must have strong interpersonal skills, be experienced providing sexual assault support using trauma and culturally responsive practices and work well with people in crisis.

General Responsibilities

  • Support survivors of Sexual Violence in both Oceanside and Nanaimo areas.
  • Work directly with survivors of sexual violence providing emotional and practical support.
  • Provide information and connection to resources for survivors of sexual violence.
  • Focus on Sexual Violence Prevention in Oceanside and Nanaimo.

Program-specific Responsibilities

  • Provide both in office and outreach services to survivors.
  • Accompany survivors to RCMP, hospital/medical and Court.
  • Provide education in the community about the prevention of sexual violence.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Services area. (e.g., Social Work, Criminal Justice).
  • Two (2) years recent related experience.
  • Must have current First Aid certification.
  • Ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (CRC).
