About the role

Research Assistant – Trauma Survivorship Studies, Sunnybrook Research Institute We are two academic trauma surgeon-scientists seeking a Full-time Research Assistant to join our team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre / Sunnybrook Research Institute . This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to several new research studies focused on access to care, primary care follow-up, and survivorship among patients discharged after traumatic injury .

Position Summary The Research Assistant will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our studies, supporting efforts to better understand and improve the long-term outcomes of traumatically injured patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit participants in both the inpatient and outpatient hospital settings.
  • Administer structured surveys both in person (e.g., during outpatient follow-up visits) and by telephone.
  • Conduct patient interviews and assist in qualitative data collection.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity.
  • Coordinate with clinical teams to facilitate smooth study operations.
  • Support ethics submissions and other administrative tasks related to the studies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (e.g., health sciences, psychology, public health, nursing) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a clinical or research environment is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage compassionately with patients.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with common software tools (e.g., MS Office, REDCap, Hospital EMR).

  • Training in human subject research and ethics will be provided if not already completed.
