About the role
Job Description Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking Part-time Security Officers! Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the overall security and protection of the Casino complex. The Security Officer shall consistently perform their duties with the highest professional standards at all times.
Skills The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills and abilities, executing the following in support of the company’s vision, mission and values:
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills are required to be displayed at all times
- Ensure any violations or suspected violations of the Gaming Code, Criminal Code of Canada and Gaming Control Act 1992 are logged accordingly and reported to the Security Management Team immediately
- Monitor at assigned post and/or assigned duty to protect the safety of the Casino’s employees and guests
- Report and log all irregular, unusual, suspicious or illegal activities
- Escort patrons and employees requesting escorts to their vehicles as required
- Answer emergency calls to and provide immediate care to ill and injured patrons/employees as required
- Collate statistical information as required
- Maintain a physical presence on the gaming floor and the surrounding complex as a deterrent to major and minor crimes
- Maintain crowd control as required
- Safeguard all confidential information and exercise due diligence to prevent improper disclosure or use
- Provide assistance to other Security Officers and EMR’s as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor/Manager.
Successful Applicants Will Demonstrate The Following Qualifications
- Completion of Post-Secondary education preferably in LASA/Police Foundations or equivalent experience
- Prior security related work experience preferred
- Must have a valid “G” Class driver’s license
- Preference will be given to applicants with specialized skills training in Conflict Resolution, Workplace Violence, Fire Extinguisher Training, Smart Serve Certified and/or First Aid & CPR
- Ability to work independently under pressure in a fast paced work environment
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and possess excellent time management and organizational skills
- Able to maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team
- Effective leadership, oral and written communication skills
- Competence and professionalism
- Ability to follow and comply with company and departmental policies and procedures
- Excellent customer service skills to maintain good rapport with customers and employees
- Ability to perform tasks and duties effectively and safely within prescribed time limits
- The ability to successfully pass a criminal record and credit check through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)
Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnights. The hours of work will be based on operational needs. Ready to embark on your next adventure?
