THE ROLE
As a member of peopleCare’s Leadership Team, the Director of Clinical Services provides strategic leadership and clinical expertise to advance our culture of resident- and family-centered care. This role champions service excellence across all peopleCare environments—Long-Term Care, Retirement, and Assisted Living—by aligning clinical programs with our mission, vision, and values. This is a temporary (12-month) internal full-time posting supporting the Leadership Support Office. The position will be evaluated in partnership with the VP LTC Operations and VP of Quality, Research, & Strategic Partnerships to determine the role’s long-term objectives within the LSO Director team.
Reports To: VP of Quality, Research, & Strategic Partnerships
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as Nursing Lead supporting clinical operations across long-term care (LTC) homes.
- Support Executive Directors, Directors of Care, and home leadership teams in fostering compliance with MLTC standards and the development of clinical policies and action plans.
- Facilitate and lead the Director of Care Community of Practice.
- Provide guidance during inspections (MOH, Public Health) and outbreaks; review incidents and help develop and monitor corrective actions.
- Act as a resource and liaison for Infection Control procedures, Skin and Wound care, BSO teams, and Falls Prevention programs.
- Champion nursing education initiatives and ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements.
- Oversee implementation of clinical programs aligned with Strategic Plan objectives.
- Mentor and support nursing leaders through a servant leadership approach to build an empowered workforce.
- Chair the Clinical Advisory Committee and participate in interdepartmental meetings.
- Contribute to quality management systems with a focus on innovation, performance measurement, and resident-centered care.
- Ensure readiness and drive excellence for Accreditation across clinical and program domains.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Nursing (Master’s preferred).
- 7-10 years of senior-level leadership in a LTC setting, ideally as a Director of Care or a similar role.
- Proven success developing strategic directions, managing compliance, and leading high-performance teams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence across functional teams and build collaborative partnerships.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and conflict resolution skills.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement and a resident- and family-centered care philosophy.
