What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager, Applications, you will work closely with administrative and clinical departments and groups as well as with the Manager, Applications and the Chief Technology Officer to ensure the best use of technology to support the organization’s business goals. The Business Analyst is responsible for applications used at Bruyère Health, supporting users from diverse groups. These applications are used by approximately 3,400 users at three sites.

You will provide primary support on several key applications. Support activities include:

  • Analyzing the organization’s departments’ existing processes and integrate solutions into their workflows through workflow analysis

  • Analyzing, defining and documenting user requirements

  • Working as a liaison between technical personnel and various end-user departments

  • Developing ad hoc reports to respond to user needs

  • Providing end-user support

  • Testing and debugging applications

  • Configuring applications

  • Troubleshooting problems

  • Managing system updates

  • Writing documentation

  • Escalating issues to vendors

You will also:

  • Work in conjunction with the network administrator to select and implement application servers and ensure that adequate disaster recovery procedures are in place.

  • Participate in the selection and implementation of new application software.

  • Sit on committees and identify system requirements and functional improvements through meetings and interviews.

  • Participate in the review of potential applications and the final selection.

  • Work closely with the vendor, network administrator and users throughout the implementation process.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • University or college degree (3 years) in Information Systems, Computer Science or in a relevant field

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience

  • Experience in structured systems analysis and design

  • Experience defining user requirements and writing specifications documents

  • Experience working with users and vendors to install and test systems

  • Troubleshooting and support of various applications

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Experience with an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system such as: MEDITECH, EPIC
  • Experience with Office 365 Power BI, Power App and Power Automate
  • Fluent in French and English

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

  • Familiar with a broad range of the organization’s business areas. For example: Finance, Human Resources, Health Records, Admissions and Patient Care.

  • Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)

  • Knowledge of report development technologies (Power BI, Crystal Reports or similar report writing tool)

  • Structured, analytical approach

  • Able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing

  • Able to work independently, or as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with project management tools

  • Able to contribute to the planning, coordination, execution and evaluation of various projects within the Information Systems department.

  • Good understanding of the organization

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent problem-solving ability

  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Advanced computer skills.

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
