Early Years Program Support Worker (Term , Part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Early Years Manager, the Early Years Program Support Worker will provide hands-on support in various early years programs. The Early Years Program Support Worker will work as a team member within the Early Years Department by supporting the Family Program and Afterschool Program to ensure the effective delivery of programming.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- BC License to practice as an Early Childhood Educator or ECEA
- Minimum 2 years Early Childhood Educator experience (preferred)
- Previous experience working with children and families
- Administration experience (preferred)
- Experience working with First Nations children (preferred)
- Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered an asset
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid First Aid with CPR Level C
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
- Valid Food Safe Certificate (preferred)
- Tuberculosis (TB) Screen is required annually/ immunization records
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, with results acceptable to WFN
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of Westbank First Nation
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
- Promotes excellent curriculum-based programing for the children that promotes Okanagan culture and language, school readiness, health & nutrition, and social support (connecting families with resources within the WFN community).
- Follows policies and procedures as outlined by the Ministry in accordance with licensing policies and WCDC policies
- Promotes health and hygiene, to prevent illness spread by following best practices for hand washing, food preparation and by implementing regular cleaning routines (sanitization of toys, kitchen, and other surfaces)
- Keeps a neat and organized work environment
- Meets and greets parents and guests in a professional manner
- Scheduling and updating Calendars, Assist with the Creation of Program Posters,
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards, and procedures, and as assigned by the Early Years Manager
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient working with a wide range of technology systems and adapting to new tools quickly
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal qualities, including integrity, patience, empathy, and the ability to effectively engage and support children
- Excellent communication and public relations skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families, colleagues, and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work individually and as part of a team
- Knowledge of Westbank First Nation Community (WFN)
- Working knowledge of support services in the WFN Community
The median hourly wage for this position is $33.88
This is a term position set to end on March 31, 2026
