OPEN POSITION

Education Consultant (Physical Education)

Under supervision of the Director, Education Services

NATURE OF WORK

This position of education consultant encompasses, in particular, responsibility for providing advice and support to staff of educational institutions and services in the development, implementation and evaluations of programs of study, class management and instructional materials.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

The physical education consultant participates in carrying out the educational Physical education projects mandated by the board with/without external service providers.

Develops a VISION for Physical Education and Health for CSB schools from Kindergarten to Secondary 5.

Designs curriculum and development for Physical Education as a guideline adapted to our Cree Students audience.

Implements strategies, based on results and does recommendations, does research on the MEES recommendations for P.E. minutes required at the elementary and secondary level, does research on the recommendations of Health Canada about Youth and Teenager number of daily active minutes as well as other health institutions across the world.

Communicates our orientations and updates to all concerned via email, teams platforms.

Ensures that orientations and best practices are implemented across the board according to plan.

Creates partnerships with other entities such EISRA, CHB, CNG.

Creation of a true Professional Learning Community for CSB P.E. teachers.

Uses available technological tools.

Researches possible funding at the Cree Health Board and Social Services of James Bay, with Quebec en Forme, Kino-Québec or other provincial and federal programs to support our vision of health and Physical Education.

Determines a plan for « extra-curricular activities and sports » offered into our schools for all of our students during Pedagogical days.

Offers resources and pedagogical support for physical educators working with students with special needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor degree in Physical Education;

At least 5 years of experience in the relevant teaching field, physical education is required;

Brevet (in the appropriate field of study) issued by the Minister of Education of Quebec;

Fluency in French and English is required;

Knowledge of the Cree Language is an asset;

High level of communication skills;

Available to travel.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Regular full time position.

35 hours/week

This position needs travelling in each community during the regular school year.

In accordance with the collective agreement, priority shall be given to beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement.

The Cree School Board (CSB) provides pre-school, elementary and secondary education to the James Bay Cree youth and supports Cree adults in their pursuit of post-secondary education, continuing education and vocational training.

As an independent First Nation school board recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, it also develops programs and pedagogical materials in Cree, French and English following Quebec Education Program guidelines.
