Frederick Fox is supporting a privately held, well established, mid-sized company in their search for a solutions-driven Controller to bring structure, leadership, and forward-thinking to their finance function. If you're a CPA who thrives on cleaning up and building out systems, this is your kind of role.

This isn’t just about closing the books—it’s about building a scalable foundation. You’ll lead financial reporting, guide process improvements, and be a critical thought partner to the CFO .

What You’ll Own:

• Full-cycle accounting and monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting under ASPE
• Managing reviews/audits and working with external advisors
• Leading and mentoring a small accounting team
• Overseeing payroll and ensuring timely CRA compliance
• Implementing costing and inventory procedures
• Driving improvements to financial systems and software
• Creating internal policies for cash management, controls, and tax compliance

Key Priorities of the role :

• Audit readiness – prepare financial statement reviews and implement proper internal controls
• Payroll oversight – assess and improve an error-prone payroll process (and evaluate an in-house vs. outsourced payroll solution)
• Tax support – educate internal leaders on corporate tax, GST, and payroll-related matters
• AP/supplier cleanup – reconcile supplier contracts and overhaul the AP function

About You:

• CPA with 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Comfortable leading financial reporting and internal audits
• Strong grasp of ASPE and Canadian tax regulations
• Confident optimizing systems, processes, and team workflows
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and ready to roll up your sleeves
