Overview of the Role
Responsible for overseeing the operations of the Brandon Plant facility from coordination to overall production.
The Plant Manager will report to the VP of Operations and will coordinate the plant’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations are met and continuously improved.
How you will make contributions that matter
- Ideate and implement strategic improvements for production, quality, and labor utilization throughout the facility
- Provide leadership to ensure effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment
- Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of improvements
- Investigate and implement innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality
- Apply lean manufacturing principles in designing, specifying, and validating manufacturing processes that achieve organizational goals
- Plan and coordinate operations for production, maintenance & departments.
- Ensure that production line schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities, customer requirements, and financial planning.
- Manage materials replenishment, quality standards, and performance metrics in support of organizational goals and objectives
- Manage cost structures for the plant by keeping operational expenses within budget allowance, and investigate cost-reduction measures
- Create documentation protocols and ensure that all records of operations are properly maintained and reviewed.
- Other duties as required.
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in plant operations or engineering
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business, engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Exceptionally detail oriented
- Proficient in computer programs – MS Office Suite, SAP (an asset)
- Ability to lead a team & supporting their success.
- Must be dedicated to achieving operational excellence
- Genuine interest in contributing to Saputo’s success
- Experience in international business operations & Dairy Industry are assets
- Understanding of Food safety & Health & safety requirements/audits
- Experience with a Unionize work environment and participation during Collective Bargaining Agreement
