Role Overview
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on Controller to join our finance team as a contractor for a 6 month maternity leave cover and own the full accounting cycle. This role will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, payroll oversight, tax compliance, and provide critical input into board-level reporting and operational finance strategy.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) transactions, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Own the full-cycle accounting process under ASPE and IFRS standards
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Review semi-monthly payroll and commission run in Rippling
- Manage Canadian tax filings including GST/HST, corporate tax, and T4s
- Assist with Board reporting and internal financial reporting packages
- Manage and optimize accounting systems, with hands-on knowledge of NetSuite, QuickBooks, Plooto, and Rippling
- Support year-end audit and compliance requirements
What You Bring
- CPA designation
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a tech, SaaS, or high-growth environment
- Deep understanding of ASPE and working knowledge of IFRS
- Solid experience with Canadian payroll and commissions
- Strong experience preparing tax filings and working with external accountants and auditors
- Highly proficient with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Plooto, and Rippling
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical and communication skills
