Job Summary & Requirements Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is Central Ontario’s largest and most advanced health centre, providing the greatest range of care to the communities we serve. Offering the area’s regional programs for cancer, heart, stroke, and child and youth mental health, RVH plays a vital role in the lives of permanent and seasonal residents in the Simcoe Muskoka region.

RVH Foundation mobilizes the community to support the world-class, life-saving work of RVH. The Event Coordinator (University/College student opportunity) for the Foundation is responsible for providing assistance and support in the development and execution of signature, partner, third-party and donor events in support of RVH from July – September.

Qualifications: Education:

  • Currently enrolled in University/College in events, marketing or related field

Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Professional or personal experience/education in video production, social media, and/or graphic design an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are considered assets. Candidates must be able to travel to and from community events as required.

Competencies:

  • Superior writing and editing skills with a track record of accurate, thorough and high-quality work
  • Proactive self-starter who works collaboratively but is comfortable initiating projects and working autonomously
  • Connection to the Simcoe Muskoka region an asset
  • Knowledge of how philanthropy supports health care and benefits patient care an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of various fundraising, stewardship and marketing events
  • Assist with event promotion, including development of marketing materials in collaboration with the Marketing team
  • Provide administrative assistance and logistic support to Event Officer and Donor Experience Officer, including but not limited to sending invitation and thank you letters to sponsors, liaising with hospital clinical and administrative staff, coordinating details with third-party event organizers, etc.
  • Attend Event Committee meetings, as required
  • Plan and coordinate meeting logistics including attendee schedules, agenda, minutes, location, and hosting requirements
  • Assist with set-up, on-site production, and clean-up for events as necessary, including acting as an RVH ambassador at events
  • Coordinate RSVP and guest lists, including VIPs and media
  • Establish and maintain relationship with volunteers; support volunteer development activities as necessary
  • Respond to inquiries from the public about events
  • Other duties relating to fundraising and event management, as assigned

Health and Safety Responsibilities: Adheres to Occupational Health & Safety Policy as follows:

  • Works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations;
  • Uses or wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing required to be used or worn;
  • Reports to his/her supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the employee is aware, and which may endanger himself, herself or a colleague; and
  • Reports to his/her supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he/she knows.
  • Participates in a culture of safety that encourages prevention, reduces errors and safeguards colleagues and patients from harm

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.

As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
