Summary:
The Route Supervisor – ICI is responsible for overseeing the daily scheduling and execution of commercial collection routes in accordance with operating budgets and service contracts, including York Region. This role ensures the timely and efficient collection of materials while upholding Miller Waste Systems’ safety protocols and standards under the Occupational Health & Safety Act. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, team-building abilities, and accountability, while serving as the main point of contact between municipal staff and the company. Additional responsibilities include tracking productivity, maintaining accurate records and reports, and occasionally filling in on routes when necessary. A valid DZ licence, clean driving record, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required, along with availability to work Saturdays and familiarity with York Region considered an asset.

Responsibilities:
In the position of Route Supervisor – ICI, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Scheduling of routes as per the operating budget, as well as accurate record and time keeping for our York Region commercial collections contract.
  • You will ensure the timely collection of residential/commercial materials, provide excellent customer service, and work within the specifications of our service contract with our commercial customer base.
  • The ability to demonstrate your leadership, build positive employee relations and develop a team spirit is critical to your success in this role.
  • You will also be the primary line of communication and contact between Municipal staff and Miller Waste Systems and must be comfortable in dealing with all levels of Municipal staff members.
  • The tracking of productivity, completion of reports and the ability to hold employees accountable to complete their tasks in a productive and safe manner will be part of your daily assignments. Compliance with all Provincial and MWS health and safety policies and procedures is a must.

Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must possess a DZ licence and a clean driving record.
  • You may be required to fill in on ICI or residential collections on an exceptional or emergency case.
  • You must have excellent attendance and performance records, as well as proven team building skills. Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are mandatory.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook are a requirement for this position.
  • Must be available to work Saturdays when required.
  • Preference will be given to those with a familiarity with York Region and the surrounding areas.
