Position Overview Parks Operations is looking to hire team members in the areas:
- Turf: Maintain, repair, and renovate turf inventory.
- Park Infrastructure & Amenities: Maintain playgrounds, trails, hard courts, park furnishings and graffiti removal.
- Horticulture & Community Gardens: Install/remove and maintain horticulture inventory- annual, perennial, shrub beds and planters.
- Fields: Operate and maintain sports field inventory
- Downtown Core: Maintain and support the downtown core area experience (litter, garbage, graffiti, inspections, furniture set up /takedown and support events).
Please note initial selection for available positions will occur in early February. Applications received after this will be kept in an application pool in case of future opportunities.
Ongoing Recruitment - Interviews will begin February 2025
Responsibilities
- Support and perform general operation and maintenance duties to achieve target service levels at parks, facilities, hydro corridors, sports fields, natural areas and parts of the road rights-of-way that are park operations responsibility.
- Collect and dispose of litter, garbage, and sharps based on prescribed safe handling procedures.
- Inspect and document the condition of various assets against defined parameters.
- Access and perform work in leash-free dog parks.
- Participate in training for the operation of all equipment and work skills related to the position.
- Work in a collaborative team environment often in a public setting with frequent interaction with the public and user groups.
- Performs o ther related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have a minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid MTO “G” class driver’s license in good standing.
- Must be flexible to work varying shifts, & rotational duties, weekends and overtime as required.
- R eliable with a good attitude and employment record.
