PlantForever is a tree-planting non-profit organization in Edmonton, Alberta. We plant trees in cities to mitigate the climate crisis. We are recruiting for a Finance Manager. This position will focus on accounting, finance framework development, and funding research. This is a fantastic opportunity to capture management experience as an executive at a nonprofit!

Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Funding & Grant Research
- Identify funding sources: government grants, nonprofit programs, business partnerships
- Organize info into a funding database and help assess best-fit opportunities
- Help draft funding plans with timelines, priorities, and tasks
2. Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Track and record all financial transactions using internal templates
- Help prepare annual financial reports for transparency and internal planning
- Collaborate on budgets for planting seasons and team projects
3. Finance Framework Development
- Research nonprofit finance regulations (e.g., Canada Revenue Agency, provincial filing)
- Assist in shaping a custom finance and compliance process for PlantForever
- Help maintain records for audit-readiness and public accountability
4. Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work alongside the VP of Finance, and connect with other departments like Operations, Marketing, and Communications
- Get a full picture of how a nonprofit works behind the scenes
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $1.00 per year
