Three Ships Beauty is expanding and we're looking for a full-time Controller to join our team! This role will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial strategy, bookkeeping, accounting practices, and managing relationships with lending institutions and regulatory agencies. The Controller will maintain fiscal records and prepare essential financial reports.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operations:
- Manage all day-to-day financial activities, including transactions, bookkeeping, A/R + A/P and accounting processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Submission of applications for grants as applicable.
Financial Reporting:
- Act as the company contact for banking and investor relations; including reporting requirements, review of debt facilities and renegotiation of terms as needed.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Create and present regular financial reports for internal stakeholders, including leadership and board members.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Support with the development and monitoring of the company’s annual budget.
- Provide financial forecasts and analyze trends to support strategic decision-making.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations, including tax laws and other regulatory standards.
- Oversee preparation and filing of tax returns and ensure timely compliance.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
- Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Cash Flow and Liquidity Management:
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business decisions, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for cost optimization.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on financial data and analysis.
Strategic Partnership:
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives and special projects, providing financial guidance to support growth objectives.
- Present financial performance to senior management and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university or college is required.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is preferred.
- MBA or other advanced degree in finance or accounting is an asset!
- 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1 year in a similar “Controller” level role at a small-mid size organization.
- Proven experience overseeing financial transactions, bookkeeping, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights for decision-making.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to identify financial risks and opportunities and propose actionable solutions.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and compliance matters.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned.
