As the Treasurer and CFO, the Commissioner, Finance reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and advises on all matters related to the strategic, modern financial management and fiscal accountability of the Region, Durham Region Transit, and Durham Regional Local Housing Corporation and liaises with Durham Regional Police Services. The Commissioner ensures initiatives are forward-thinking and that best practices align with the Strategic Plan. Leading a team of 219 staff in all divisions of the Finance Department, the Commissioner takes pride in the effective utilization of the Region’s assets as well as a commitment to partnerships with fellow Commissioners and Council. The Commissioner models and champions the Region’s values with a focus on teamwork and understanding and meeting Council, public, and stakeholder needs.

With your CPA and university degree, you possess more than 10 years of senior experience gained in a complex, unionized, and publicly accountable organization. You are passionate about building strong and collaborative teams, and skilled in making public presentations. You are known as being politically astute, having high ethical standards, and for building trusting relationships.
