POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality control systems to ensure that products and processes meet or exceed established standards. This role oversees the quality assurance team, works closely with production and operations teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high-quality outputs and compliance with industry regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for directing and planning all Quality functions.

  • Promote a Quality first culture across all departments.

  • Provide technical support to the plant personnel as it relates to quality.

  • Responsible for overall department outputs, staffing and developing the technical competency of the department and product lines.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.

  • Prepare, maintain, and update quality documentation, including policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Manage certifications, quality audits, and liaise with external auditors or regulatory bodies.

  • Maintain a dashboard of metrics that will track and demonstrate key performance drivers and accurately demonstrate customer service levels.

  • Review and stamp engineering packages, as necessary.

  • Initiate/monitor engineering project status and balance department resources to overachieve on deliverables.

  • Develop/introduce a Quality Improvement roadmap for the Division and help to lead the change.

  • Develop/lead team-based Quality Problem Solving training to help drive continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate process improvement projects to reduce waste, costs, and lead times.

  • Work with Scheduling and Operations to develop and implement short-term and long-term plans and strategies based on project needs.

  • Development, generation, and analysis of key operational KPI’s as it relates to engineering function and Quality performance.

  • Cooperative effort with purchasing and production groups to develop the supply chain as required to establish optimum component and services supply.

  • Address and resolve customer complaints, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.

  • Compliance to all company, ISO 9001, and government procedures and guidelines.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a safe workplace and assign safe work
  • Instruct, inform, and supervise workers to protect their health and safety
  • Ensure proper policies and procedures are put in place for employee safety
  • Follow and reinforce the policies and procedures put in place for employee safety
  • Ensure that any equipment, protective device, or clothing required by the task is used or worn properly by the worker
  • Ensure training is provided to employees on the hazards of tasks, and ensure precautions are taken
  • Report and act on any unsafe conditions and potential hazards that may be presented by employees or are seen while working
  • Adhere to the OSHA

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt), ISO Lead Auditor, or similar are preferred.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • 5+ years of experience in a quality management role within metal fabrication and machining environment.

  • Advance knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques

  • Proven experience implementing and managing QMS frameworks like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or IATF 16949.

  • Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, CAPA).

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and quality management tools.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.

  • Proactive and results-driven mindset to achieve continuous improvement.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and industry-specific quality requirements.

Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:

  • Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, CAPA).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and quality management tools.
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
  • ERP

Physical Demands:

  • Standard office and manufacturing environment.

  • Involves occasional travel to suppliers, customers, or external audit sites.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
